The cell is thecate, of medium to large dimensions. It seems that the wall has no thecal plates. The body is pentagonal and is divided by the cingulum into a sub-conical epitheca, which terminates with an apical pore, and the hypotheca, which is prolonged into two long rather rigid appendices, roughly cylindrical with rounded extremities. The sulcus is not observed. In the cell, in the central area, there is an elongated nucleus, numerous chloroplasts, and numerous drops of lipids.
