Species details
The cell is thecate, of medium size. The epitheca, which is half as high as it is wide, is prolonged into a straight, short, robust apical horn. The hypotheca, which is double the size of the epitheca, extends into two well-developed antapical horns. The left antapical horn, slightly thicker and more robust than the other, is curved and then runs parallel to the apical horn, while the right antapical horn curves sharply, initially parallel but then converging towards the apical horn.
- Cell Width: from 64 to 85 µm
