Morphological Characteristics

The cell is thecate,of large dimensions. The body has a pentagonal shape and is divided by the cingulum into a sub-conical epitheca that terminates in an apical pore and a hypotheca that terminates with two long rounded appendices at the extremities. The sulcus is not seen. The cell contains chloroplasts.
