
Species details
The cell is thecate. The body of the cell, of medium dimensions, appears to be subdivided into a small epitheca and a much larger hypotheca. From two to four winged spines, which may be as long as the body of the cell, emanate from the antapical plate. Crests emanate from the cingulum, while the sulcus has small wings. On the cellular surface there are pores. The cell contains chloroplasts.

Found in warm and temperate waters.
Distribution: Atlantic Islands: Canary Islands (Gil-Rodríguez et al. 2003).
