- Peridinium elegans: Cleve (1900)
The cell is thecate, solitary, of large dimensions. The distinctive shape of the central body appears compressed and elongated. The cell surface is reticulate. The cingulum is circular or slightly shifted and divides the cell into two parts: the epitheca, which is prolonged into a long thin apical horn situated in a central position, and the hypotheca, which has two slightly divergent smooth antapical horns with undulated extremities.
