• Grammatophora marina var. communis: Grunow ex Van Heurck (1880)

Solitary or joined in zigzagging colonies. In girdle view the valves appear rectangular and elongated. In valve view the valves are linear or elliptical. There is a linear pseudo-raphe. At the extremities of the valves there is a small round hyaline area.

Distribution: Grammatophora oceanica.  in Europe: Romania (Caraus, 2002), Spain (Varela, 1982); Atlantic: Canary Islands (Gil-Rodríguez et al., 2003); in Asia: Japan (Sawai et al., 2005).
