Morphological Characteristics

Solitary. The valves have a lanceolate shape and the central area never reaches the margins of the valve. On the dorsal surface the striae are very thin and densely-packed.

Distribution

Freshwater.

Distribution: as Stauroneis gracilis. Europe: Spain (Álvarez Cobelas and Estévez García, 1982); Australia and New Zealand: Victoria (Day et al., 1995).
As Stauroneis phoenicenteron f. gracilis. Europe: Romania (Caraus, 2002).
