Morphological Characteristics

Colonies microscopic, more or less spherical or irregularly oval, sometimes composed of two subcolonies. Cells arranged more or less radially in the periphery, slightly distant and displaced from one another, sometimes 2-4 near together, later aggregated, with 10-30 cells. Cells widely oval, pale blue-green, very finely granulate, without gas vesicles

  • Diameter of colony: from 15 to 20 µm
Distribution
Planktonic in stagnant or slowly flowing eutrophic waters, temperate zone, tropical region. Baltic sea.
 
Distribution: Europe: Romania (Caraus 2012), Spain (Pérez, Maidana & Comas 2009).
