Morphological Characteristics

Cells are solitary, more or less tetrahedral or to almost flattened, at each angle with one 2,5-5 µm long cell wall process. Cell sides are concave, only for older convex. Cell wall smooth. The cells have one parietal chloroplast with a pyrenoid.

Distribution
In plankton in different standing, slightly eutrophic, usually small and overgrown waters. Possibly common in temperate and tropic zones.
