Morphological Characteristics

Cells long spindle shape, lunate, irregularly rounded to helically twisted (1,5 coil), ends tapering in to sharp spikes. The chloroplast is parietal, covering all cell wall, without pyrenoid.

Distribution
In plankton and metaphyton of light to strong eutrophied water bodies, very common. One of the most common Monoraphidium species. Possibly with cosmopolitan distribution.
