Synonyms
  • Planktolyngbya subtilis: W. West, Komárek (1988), Anagnostidis
  • Oscillatoria splendida var. limnetica: Lemmermann, Playfair (1938)
  • Lyngbya limnetica : Lemmermann
Morphological Characteristics

Filaments solitary, free-floating, straight or slightly curved (trichomes). Sheaths fine, narrow, colourless, but usually well distinct. Thrichomes pale blue-green, not constricted at the sometimes slightly visible cross-walls, cylindrical, not attenuated at the ends. Cells cylindrical; cell content homogeneous, pale blue-green or greyish blue-green without aerotopes, sometimes with solitary granules. Apical cells rounded or bluntly-pointed.
