- Exilaria flabellata : Greville (1827)
The cells are solitary or joined in colonies. In girdle view, the frustule is club-shaped, with the extremities slightly acute. In valve view it is elongated and moderately thin, with the extremities of equal width and faint striae A pseudo-raphe cannot be distinguished. The striae are slightly radial at the apex of the valve. Spines on the extremity of the valve and rimoportulae along the cingulum can be distinguished by SEM. The cell contains 4 large chloroplasts.

Distribution: as Licmophora ehrenbergii, in Europe: Romania (Caraus, 2002); Spain (Varela, 1982); Atlantic Ocean: Canary Islands (Gil-Rodríguez et al., 2003); Australia and New Zealand: New South Wales (Day et al., 1995).
