Morphological Characteristics

The coenobium is 2, 4, (8) cells, cells arranged linearly or slightly alternating, moderately disintegrated. Cells more or less elliptical to nearly cylindrical, the marginal sides more bulbous, the apices rounded. Apices of marginal cells slightly bent outward. At the poles of marginal cells diagonally going spines. Additionally at the poles of the inner cells and at the centre of marginal cells often are spines. These secondary spines strongly varied in length and can totally disappear. On the cell sides sometimes can be a row of small dots.
